Our pecan trees have put a lot of growth on this year. Maybe we will get pecans in 5 more years. :)
We actually have blooms on two of our apple trees! And the rest of the trees all look healthy right now! Could this be the year? Will we finally get some apples?
Matt got a bunch of fruit trees on clearance. He is really excited about all of the extra work he has created for himself (finding places to plant all of them). ;)
They were only $5 a piece marked down from $26-40! He got 6 apple trees (2 varieties) and 12 peach trees (all different varieties). Today Matt pruned the fruit trees and dug out some more of the pond in anticipation of a very rainy upcoming week. Farmer Matt has been really busy planting all of the trees he ordered from Missouri Department of Conservation. The current location is temporary for most of these, but they have a home for now. Over the last 2 days Matt planted over 200 trees, including shortleaf pine, bald cyprus, colby pecan, peruque pecan, paw paw, red mulberry, service berry; with 100 left to go including: elderberry, hack cherry, mulberry, pine Luna and the chickens are helping :)
